WELCOME TO BPSI’S ONE-YEAR FELLOWSHIP PROGRAM.

Our Fellowship program has a dual nature:

  • It is a coherent, self-contained, one-year introduction to the theory and practice of psychoanalytic psychotherapy and
  • It serves as the first year of our ATP program for those who wish to continue.
  • For students who primarily work with children and adolescents, there is a new Child Fellowship track. Fellows will be immersed in theory  seminars on Development and Technique and clinical seminars on child cases.  All the seminars will be led by experienced BPSI Child Analysts and Therapists. To learn more, please click here. For more information please contact the Co-Chairs of the Child Fellowship Track: David Levoy (617-244-0111) or Dov Fogel (617-547-6776).

Fellowship faculty members are experienced clinicians who seek to bring the richness, excitement, and depth of psychoanalytic thinking into the classroom and to help students bring their understanding into their clinical work.

Some students enter the Fellowship already having applied to, and been accepted to, the ATP. Other Fellows apply during the spring of their Fellowship year to continue their studies in the ATP. And many Fellows complete this one-year program and do not continue further.

Unlike the more intensive ATP, the Fellowship core curriculum consists only of seminars, meeting one evening each week; A Theory Seminar and a Clinical Seminar. Fellows who are independently licensed or covered by an institutional license, and who have malpractice coverage, may arrange for private individual psychotherapy supervision with an ATP supervisor, with fees arranged with the supervisor. Upon admission to the ATP, supervision scholarship support is available.

Individual Advisor support is provided to each Fellow.
