Abstract: This collection contains transcripts relating to several oral history projects including The American Psychoanalytic Association's Oral History Workshops, Dr. Sanford Gifford's Oral History Projects, and assorted other interviews. Also included are interviews by Lucille Ritvo and Elizabeth A. Danto. The American Psychoanalytic Association (APsaA) was founded in 1911 and is the oldest national psychoanalytic society. It is a professional organization for psychoanalysts, focusing on education, research, and membership development. The organization holds annual meetings and provides workshops related to various historical topics within psychoanalysis. This collection consists of the transcipts from these workshops. Series Arrangement

Series I: Transcripts of tape-recorded individual interviews conducted as part of Sanford Gifford’s Oral History Project. This series contains professional interviews and transcripts of interviews performed by Gifford and his contemporaries. Also included in this series are interviews conducted by Lucille Ritvo and Elizabeth A. Danto. Some interviews were part of the BPSI Oral History Workshop project in which notable psychoanalysts were interviewed about the field of Psychoanalysis.

Series II: Transcripts of the American Psychoanalytic Association’s Oral History Workshops. These were organized by the History and Archives Committee, of which Sanford Gifford was Chair.

Folders are arranged chronologically with some exceptions when subjects are grouped.
