Thank you for your interest in the Boston Psychoanalytic Society and Institute.

BPSI welcomes clinicians, scholars and members of the community interested in psychoanalysis.

Located at 141 Herrick Road in Newton Centre, Massachusetts, BPSI offers post-graduate training in psychoanalysis and psychoanalytic psychotherapy, classes for clinicians and non-clinicians, and a wide-ranging series of public lectures, seminars and events.  Supported by our in-house Hanns Sachs Library with its extensive book, journal, and archive collections and knowledgeable library staff, BPSI is a place of creative collaboration among a diverse gathering of people devoted to the study, practice, and application of psychoanalytic ideas.  It is a home for professional development and lifelong learning.

Community Partner$540/year
$560/year effective July 1, 2024

This partnership offers up to 125 Continuing education credits for clinicians (CMEs, CEs, & CEUs) per year and up to 25 NBCC Clock Hours per year.
Members of the community (clinician and non-clinician) who are interested in psychoanalysis are invited to become Community Partners. Benefits also include access to the online database Psychoanalytic Electronic Publishing (PEP).

*Special Opportunity for Early-Career Clinicians and Students
Students enrolled in a degree-granting program and Early-Career Clinicians  (up to five years post-licensure) are invited to become Community Partners of BPSI at a reduced fee of $100/year.


Academic Partner$100/year

Scholars, teachers, and non-clinical faculty of universities, colleges, and secondary schools are invited to become Academic Partners. Benefits also include access to the online database Psychoanalytic Electronic Publishing (PEP). Academic Partners receive opportunities to participate in BPSI’s Division of Interdisciplinary Psychoanalysis activities.


Fellowship Alumni$140/year
$145/year effective July 1, 2024

This partnership offers up to 125 Continuing education credits for clinicians (CMEs, CEs, & CEUs) per year and up to 25 NBCC Clock Hours per year.
Those who have completed BPSI’s Fellowship Program in Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy within the past five years are invited to become Fellowship Alumni for up to five years upon completion of the program. Additional benefits include access to the online database Psychoanalytic Electronic Publishing (PEP). Fellowship Alumni are welcome to participate in special programs for early career clinicians


Adjunct Member$690/year
$710/year effective July 1, 2024

This membership offers up to 125 Continuing education credits for clinicians (CMEs, CEs, & CEUs) per year and up to 25 NBCC Clock Hours per year.
Graduates of APsaA, MIP, and the IPA may be eligible for Adjunct membership. Adjunct Members are welcome to all member events and can offer Explorations in Mind Program courses.


Academic Member in Psychotherapy$1,215/year
$1,255/year effective July 1, 2024

This membership offers up to 125 Continuing education credits for clinicians (CMEs, CEs, & CEUs) per year and up to 25 NBCC Clock Hours per year.
Students of BPSI’s Advanced Training in Program Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy who have completed all seminars are eligible for academic psychotherapist membership. Academic Members in Psychotherapy are full voting members and are eligible to chair committees, run for elective office, teach in the Psychotherapy Training Programs, and offer courses in the Explorations in Mind program.  Benefits also include access to the online database Psychoanalytic Electronic Publishing (PEP).


Psychotherapist Member$1,215/year
$1,255/year effective July 1, 2024

This membership offers up to 125 Continuing education credits for clinicians (CMEs, CEs, & CEUs) per year and up to 25 NBCC Clock Hours per year.
Graduates of BPSI’s Advanced Training Program in Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy are eligible for Psychotherapist membership.  Psychotherapist Members are full voting members and are eligible to chair committees, run for elective office, teach in the Psychotherapy Training Programs, and offer courses in the Explorations in Mind program.  Psychotherapist Members receive access to the BPSI referral listserv and database as well as access to the online database Psychoanalytic Electronic Publishing (PEP). Graduates of psychotherapy training programs outside of BPSI are eligible for Community Partnership.


Psychoanalyst Member$1,710/year
$1,765/year effective July 1, 2024

This membership offers up to 125 Continuing education credits for clinicians (CMEs, CEs, & CEUs) per year and up to 25 NBCC Clock Hours per year.
Graduates of Psychoanalytic Training Programs may be eligible for Psychoanalyst membership providing they meet BPSI training equivalency requirements. Psychoanalyst Members are full voting members and are eligible to chair committees, run for elective office, and apply for faculty appointment in the Psychoanalytic Institute. In addition, Psychoanalyst Members can offer Explorations in Mind Program courses. Psychoanalyst Members receive access to the BPSI referral listserv and database, as well as access to the online database Psychoanalytic Electronic Publishing (PEP).
