PROGRAM OVERVIEW
- A five-year curriculum of theoretical and clinical seminars
- Three or more supervised psychoanalyses conducted by the Candidate to enhance the understanding of others and provide intensive clinical experience
- A Candidate’s personal analysis to enhance self-understanding and gain a deep appreciation of the dynamic interaction between analyst and patient
Psychoanalytic Candidates draw from their full capacity of learning, creativity, caring, and compassion. By interweaving scholarly training, relevance through “practical” experience, with intensive one-on-one supervision, BPSI fully prepares graduates for the clinical practice of psychoanalysis and the application of psychoanalytic concepts to many areas of clinical, scholarly, and other professional work.
Traditionally, classes are held on Thursday evenings at BPSI from 5:30pm- 7:00pm and 8:00pm – 9:30pm, with an hour free for dinner, over eight-week periods from September to June. Our focus is on in-person learning and applicants are expected to be able to attend classes at BPSI, at 141 Herrick Road in Newton Centre.
